Sell Your Broken iPhone

Sell Your Broken iPhone

You’d be surprised how many people put up with a cracked iPhone until its time to upgrade. Unfortunately, when it comes to cashing in a faulty or broken iPhone, consumers are hard-pressed to get a decent valuation for it.

Most mobile phone recycling companies will absolutely slaughter you with an instant 55-70% reduction from your device’s full working value. Does that seem fair when a typical iPhone screen repair is in the region of £35-£50?! I don’t think so!

That’s why Gecko Mobile Recycling individually test each Faulty handset or tablet in order to give an individual offer based on exactly what is wrong with your device. This means you are guaranteed to get the maximum possible value for it. And as long as it is a fault that we can repair in-house, you are guaranteed to be offered more cash for it than any other mobile recycling company!

Here are examples of typical deductions based on selling a faulty iPhone 5:

– Faulty Battery (£10)
– Cracked Screen (£40)
– Faulty Buttons (£50)

So what’s stopping you? Sell your broken iPhone today!

iPhone 6 Rumour Roundup

The web is bursting with iPhone 6 rumours and it can be hard to know who – or what – to believe. But don’t fret fellow web-goer, Gecko Mobile Recycling have searched far and wide to bring the most credible iPhone 6 rumours together, so you don’t have to!

What we know so far… (in a nutshell)

  • Autumn Release
  • Two larger screen sizes
  • Sapphire Crystal Screen
  • Faster Hardware

Why a bigger screen?

There is strong evidence that the screen will be larger based on slides leaked from the Apple V Samsung trial (see below), and media reports.

whatsgoingon

Specifically, a Bloomberg contact reported that Apple will introduce not one – but TWO – new iPhone models. One is expected to have a 4.7 inch display while it is anticipated that the other will have a 5.5 inch screen. Incidentally, it was the same source who said that these new models are expected to be released in Autumn.

Worried about scratching your brand new iPhone 6?

Don’t be! Apple recently partnered with GT Advanced – who make scratch-proof sapphire glass. Now, sapphire is quite expensive (being a precious stone and all). But don’t fret, GT Advanced recently acquired a snazzy Ion Cannon which has cut the cost of producing sapphire glass dramatically! What does this mean for you? Well, it means the chance of getting your mitts on a sapphire-coated scratch-proof iPhone 6 is a lot more likely now!

Why Faster Hardware?

Apple have always given their latest model a speed bump, and we don’t think this time will any different. Also, The Wall Street Journal have recently reported that Apple has paired with Taiwan Semiconductor Company to produce ‘A Series’ chips for future Apple devices. The iPhone 6 is reportedly going to be kitted out with a 20-nanometer A8 chip comprising a quad-core processor and quad-core graphics, a big step-up from the dual-core A7 found in the iPhone 5S and iPad Mini Retina.

So there  you have it … the latest and greatest iPhone 6 rumours rounded up for your reading pleasure.

And don’t forget that when you’re enjoying that new iPhone 6 and you think “it’s time to sell my iPhone 5S” we can help you out by buying it from you for a great price!

How to remove Apple’s Activation Lock

What is Apple’s Activation Lock?

Apple’s Activation lock is a security feature built into iOS 7 which is automatically turned on  when you set up an iCloud account. Its purpose is to make it hard for someone else to use your iPhone or iPad if it is stolen.

Of course, when it comes to recycling your iPhone or selling your iPad this can cause problems because the Activation lock can render the hardware useless without the original owner’s password. This is why if you go to sell your iPhone or iPad to Gecko Mobile Recycling we ask you to remove the lock before you send your device to us.

How to remove Apple’s activation lock

Apple’s Activation Lock can be removed in one of two ways. The easiest way to remove it before you sell your iPhone or iPad – and also protect your personal data – is to erase all content settings by choosing Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

Of course, if your iPhone or iPad is faulty (for example, if your mobile has a cracked display), it may not be possible to follow that procedure. In that case, remove Apple’s activation lock and erase your device by signing in to your iCloud account, then click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to your account and select the device to be removed. Then click the Erase button to erase all content and settings from your device (when prompted, don’t enter a phone number or message). Click Next until your device is erased. When the erase is complete, click “Remove from Account” to remove the device from your account.
